This is about memory
... and poetry, and other things.
As an aphantasic person with SDAM and some other things going on, I find that writing and taking photos are ways to "cement" memories in external ways. My brain doesn't do that very well, so I've always relied on others and my journaling (and photographs) to remember what has happened in my life.
I believe that storytelling is critical to human health, and that we are all supposed to help each other carry parts of our stories so that they are remembered and shared. Words are powerful. They don't have to be complicated in order to carry weight. They don't have to be presented perfectly on the page or even spoken well. It's when they are heartfelt that they have the most impact, that they are remembered.
I am shy about publishing what I write for fear of it being scraped by AI or used in ways that are harmful. "Do no harm/do positive good" is my bedrock. Words can hurt and words can heal. Wielding them well is an art to which I aspire. Maybe I'll arrive there one day. Until then, I'll practice, practice, practice.
I love making people laugh with my wordsmithing, but not everything I write is facetious or funny. I love wordplay and making up songs on the fly. I love when my muse decides to pay me a visit. She likes it when I get enough sleep and beauty in my life. I try to abide by her wishes.
